Project Investigator: Bettina Smith, Manager, Image Collections and Fieldwork Archives (ICFA)
Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection supports research and learning internationally in Byzantine, Garden and Landscape, and Pre-Columbian studies through fellowships and internships, meetings, and exhibitions.
Dumbarton Oaks utilizes Mirador for their rare books, photographic materials, and archival collections. The side by side capability allows direct comparison of materials in the collections that have been physically separated due to different storage needs, such as this photograph and notebook page depicting the same stage of restoration to one of the mosaics in the northern tympanum of Hagia Sophia. Both images are from the Byzantine Institute and Dumbarton Oaks fieldwork records and papers.
