Canvas Integration & Annotation

Mirador is used as an embedded component of the HarvardX Annotation tool for HarvardX courses, as well as in Harvard College residential courses as a component of Canvas course sites. In addition to images, text can also be annotated. The tools enable instructors to ask students to annotate images or text, as well as to reply to each others’ annotations. Students engage in an online discussion regarding course materials prior to an in-person discussion.   If you are interested in using these tools for your courses, please contact atg@fas.harvard.edu

Canvas Integration & Image Presentation

The FAS Academic Technology Group, in collaboration with University partners in teaching, learning, and researchhas developed an LTI application to enable faculty to upload, curate, and present collections of images and associated metadata within Canvas and other LTI-compliant learning management systems. The LTI Image Media Manager, which exposes image data via IIIF APIs and utilizes Mirador as the default image viewer, provides a robust foundation for media management and display. If you are interested in using this tool for your course, please contact atg@fas.harvard.edu.
